TEMPLE HISTORY (STHALA VARALARU)

LORD RAMA AND HANUMANTHA LINGAM: As per hindu mythology it is  believed that Lord Sri Rama worshipped here before proceeding to Lanka. There was delay in getting a Linga from Hanuman, to keep up puja time, it is said that Sri Rama made a Linga with sand, and its called as  Prithvi Linga.Rama, Brahmma and a king by name Sargunan are believed to have worshipped the Prithvi lingam here. The same legend that holds at Rameswaram holds here too.The Linga brought by Hanuman is also in the temple as Hanumantha Linga.

TRADER DHANAJAYAN: It is believed from one story that a trader Dananjayan by name incurred leprosy as he had an intercourse with his step mother unknowingly and got cured with his prayers to Lord.

SARGUNA LINGESWARAR: King Sarguna had worshipped Lord ,Hence its named  as Sarguna Lingeswarar.
