Nadi Astrology -Introduction
What is Nadi Astrology - Part 2
Now, there are also two types of people involved with Nadi astrology.
1. Nadi Readers: These are people in charge of the Nadi
texts who have the texts with them. They read your predictions from those
ancient pages as written by the sages, word for word. Over time, they have
added a few comments of their own to make the content more exhaustive. However,
over time, as society and communities have evolved, the predictions have
started become irrelevant or absurd. As people have stopped dying of flu,
marrying at 16 and naming themselves after deities, most predictions of Nadi
centers fail. At best, they are able to describe the first letter of the name
for a person and his family (the full name too at times, if the name is a
traditional one). Next, they’re able to tell the number of children and the
year of marriage for many. However, no relevant prediction about any person is
ever made because thousands of years back the sage who were writing the books
did not know that someone would want to know whether they’ll be an aeronautical
engineer or want to become a parent through surrogacy.
2. Nadi Astrologers: These are astrologers who study and learn from
the texts on how to use that knowledge in the current time to make predictions.
However, as the texts are rarely available and one needs to either have a
translator or learn sanskrit to understand them, Nadi astrologers are rare.
Recently, because it has been good for business for people to pose as Nadi
astrologers, every other astrologer with no clue of the Nadi text has become a
Nadi astrologer and even started teaching Nadi astrology!
There is a third kind
as well which I will write about separately for reasons you’ll know after
reading. There are a few people from the rural and religious cities of India
who have access to the mantra nadis and how to use it. These are the people who
supposedly can use mantras and other meditative techniques to be able to
predict with remarkable accuracy anything that has happened in the past. Their
control over past events is exceptional and just as if they’re seeing it in
front of their own eyes. However, every single prediction of theirs about the
future is wrong. It is said that since the future has not yet come to pass and
still a probability, they are unable to know it from mantras.
Now, it may appear
fiction but this is what it I know of them. Don’t come asking me for contact of
people who know mantra Nadis and don’t go about saying that I am talking
bullshit. I too have only heard of such people and read about them.
Some of the Nadi texts
which exist are given below. I am only mentioning those that I have personally
seen and read.
·
Bhrigu
Samhita / Bhrigu Nadi:
The work of Maharishi
Bhrigu, it is one of the most commonly known samhitas. there are numerous
centers across India claiming to possess Bhrigu Samhita and using it for Nadi
readings.
·
Chandra
Kala Nadi:
One of the most
amazing texts to exist in astrology, the work marvelously uses the Nadiamsa for
making predictions. The text is a voluminous one and a certain portion of it
was translated to English by R. Santhanam. The book is commonly available in
the market but even the translation is of no use unless one knows astrology and
can identify the working principles from those shlokas.
·
Bhrigu
Nandi Nadi:
Another marvelous work
but one of the most unappreciated ones. It was translated and popularized by
late Shri R. G. Rao who was one of the most well known Nadi astrologers of his
time. Interestingly, while it is one of the most amazing work on astrology, people
have always returned me the text within a day with whomsoever I have shared it.
Making sense of the book is a challenge in itself even when the translation is
plain English.
·
Dhruva
Nadi:
This is the great work
of Maharishi Satyacharya. It is the foundation of all nakshatra based systems
of modern astrology and has some of the most amazing insights.
·
Suka
Nadi:
Suka Nadi or Shukra
Nadi is the work of Shukracharya. Regarded as the wisest preceptor, the work is
one of those which has always been found astonishingly accurate.
·
Saptarishi
Nadi:
The work consists of
the collected wisdom of all the seven Saptarishis of the Vedic era. Another
remarkable work with some of the things mentioned in the text being the
founding stones of all other works on astrology.
In a nutshell, that is what Nadi Jyotish, or
rather the so called Nadi Jyotish is. In reality, Nadi Jyotish
is just a word we use to refer to these texts which predate the other
“classical texts” which are prevalent today in India.
